This was a world far from the restless daily routine of Western industrial society. The search for adventure and refinement made Havana an oasis for intellectuals, navigators, businessmen, adventurers, and “bon vivants”.
In this atmosphere, Don Armando F. Rio y Cuervo and his brothers dedicated themselves to the watch making business originally founded by their uncle Don Ramon. Their skill and diligence shaped the business, and as it grew, so did the reputation and prestige of Cuervo y Sobrinos (Cuervo and Nephews).
In time, these now prominent jewelers opened a new boutique on Havana’s Quinta Avenida where they offered classic and elegant treasures to a select and demanding clientele. To guarantee the quality of their watches, Cuervo y Sobrinos maintained its own production facilities at Chaux-de-Fonds, located in the heart of the Swiss watch making region. |
